TIM MAHONEY
Your ACC Trustee, PLACE 1

Thank you for supporting my campaign!

With your help, we were able to win a difficult, contested race. I am proud of the progress we have made in my first year of service on the ACC Board of Trustees.  We reinvigorated the ACC Campus Advisory Committees by adding Board-appointed members.  The Campus Advisory Committees are now streamlined and ready to participate in ACC’s new efforts to begin systemwide planning with a community oriented Campus base.  I hope that we will work with transportation advocates to make mass transit more effective for ACC students and staff. As a result of working with my fellow Trustees and the ACC Administration, Austin Community College will have the Board Appointed members to keep us connected to our communities in Central Texas.  These Committees have been revitalized and will be even more important for interactive communications with all of us as we embark on our system facility and programmatic planning.

ACC is in the process now of developing next year’s budget, and it is imperative that we find a proper balance with accomplishing the very important ACC mission with affordable and quality education and workforce development, especially now in this challenging economic time. We need to ensure that ACC staff are fairly compensated to meet this important mission.  ACC may well be the most important collaborative governmental institution in Central Texas.

Please join me in discussing that future!  I am hosting a retire-the-debt fundraiser on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 4pm to 7pm at El Mercado Uptown, 1702 Lavaca.  There is a free Taco Bar from 4pm to 6pm, a happy hour until 7pm, and Margarita specials from 5pm to 10pm.  Come join the fun!

Of course, if you are unable to attend the fundraiser, you can always contribute on-line at the 'donate' link above. Thank you for your support!
